Salient. Victoria University of Wellington Student's Newspaper. Volume 31, Number 3. March 19 1968

[advert for Salient technical editor]

A technical editor of Salient is to be appointed at a salary of $300 per year.

Responsible to the editor, he will be in charge of sub-editing, will lay out the newspaper, and will generally handle liaison with the printers.

This was decided by Executive at its last meeting following a recommendation of the Publications Board.

Executive was divided on the size of the proposed salary and after long discussion reduced the recommended figure of $400 to $300.

During the discussion, the editor of Salient, Bill Logan, who was given speaking rights, said he was devoting about 70 hours a week to the production of the newspaper which was published fortnightly till this year.

He also said that as advertising for Salient is at present much greater than predicted, it would be intelligent to take this opportunity to employ a professional in the skilled area of technical production.
