No beauty
No beauty
"The University is no place for beauty contests," Miss E. Shankland, International Affairs Officer, told executive recently.
The executive agreed that there had been a lack of enthusiasm on the part of female students for the Beauty Contest in August.
Girls had been coerced into entering, and some were forced in under false pretences.
If a representative should be needed for future national contests it was decided to hold any further contests during "Capping Week."
But a motion was passed that beauty contests at Victoria or any other university should be discouraged.
