Cambridge, Massachusetts... Something new has been added to this MIT. classroom—a computer. Because of it Professor C. L. Miller (shown here lecturing student), an engineering design Class, for example, now can consider prohlems in a single session that ten years ago could not have been handled over a period of many months. Thus the emphasis in civil engineering has changed from teaching students how to solve specific problems to teaching them how to analyse problems properlv so that they may be fed to computer for solution. Professor Miller is head of M.I.T.'s Department of Civil Engineering.
