Elections Each June

Elections Each June

The Executive takes office after the Annual General Meeting in late June.

President: The election takes place in the last week of the first term. Candidates are not required to have previous Executive experience.

All Other Positions: Elections are just prior to the A.G.M. Candidates may stand for more than one position. Voting is conducted according to the Nansen Preferential system, with all financial members of the Association for that academic year being entitled to vote. In practice a low percentage of those entitled to vote do. See that you do.

Vancancies: The Executive has power to co-opt when vacancies occur. If four vacancies occur during one term of office, then a by-election is held for all four positions. The co-opted members are deemed to have resigned on receipt of the fourth resignation. If the office of President falls vacant before the close of the University year in which he was elected, then a by-election is held.
