Salient. The Newspaper of Victoria University College. Vol. 20, No. 6. June 22, 1956

Paul Canham

Paul Canham

Paul is a fourth-year Arts student this year taking Honours in History. He has participated in many aspects of student life at VUC particularly rowing and rugby. He has represented VUC in rowing at three Tournaments and also in water polo in 1955. He was last season a Wellington provincial representative at the New Zealand Olympic rowing trials. In rugby Paul has been captain of the VUC Third Seconds last year and of the Junior Thirds this year.

Paul has also served this College as a sports administrator—secretary of the Rowing Club for three years; member of the Rugby Club committee and Rowing Controller at Easter Tournament 1956. He is keenly interested in all Varsity activities (Extrav. Congress, etc.) and would be a great worker for the association if elected.

Paul would especially like to see the student representative on the College Council as more of a representative than at present; he favours the idea of a canteen open all day to sell confectionery, cigarettes etc; and he recognizes the need for a common commonroom. We feel that in Paul the Association has a person of great ability and who would serve the Association to the best of his ability at all times.
