Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria College, Wellington, N.Z. Vol. 18, No. 8. June 17, 1954

Norman Harris

Norman Harris

Norm was during 1953 Secretary and is this year Vice-President of the Weir House Association.

He is a fifth year B.A.-LL.B. student who in addition to a first-class academic record has taken an energetic part in many 'Varsity activities—in particular, indoor basketball (Tournament, 1951, 1952), tennis, table tennis, skiing, the embryo Aero Club (a licensed pilot), debating, "Salient" ("Weir Here" column), plus administrative positions at Weir ranging from Haka Party leader to magazine editor.

The position of Secretary ideally requires a wide knowledge of Varsity affairs, efficiency, and, above all-experience. Norm has a record of a full and active University life and very wide experience in administration in the highly organised corporate life of Weir.

Apart from his interest in administrative matters Norm fully realises the urgent need for improved student amenities and especially a Student Union Building to make more possible a corporate life' at Victoria.

Nominator:—John Marchant.

Seconder:—Barry Boon, Diana Lescher.
