François Raynal's text is reproduced as translated, word-for-word from the 1880 edition; the only changes have been to make punctuation consistent. A glossary of some unfamiliar terms and usages is on page 260. The translation uses the spelling Epigwait whereas modern usage is Epigwaitt; Chili equals Chile; Faveaux Strait is Foveaux Strait; and Eighth Island is Figure of Eight Island. The name Collyer is more properly Colyer and Right should be Wright.
