SPROTT, William Kinloch 1864–1893

Born Dunedin: studied at Canterbury College School of Art and taught there. Was said to have studied also with L. J. Steele in Auckland. Spent his holidays camping and sketching with Alfred Walsh at Kaikoura and in other places in the South Island and is said to have influenced Walsh. Was one of the Palette Club. Died in Auckland. Exhibited OAS 1882–87; CAS 1890–92. Two works chosen for Canterbury Retrospective 1951; one for Centennial Ex Wtn 1940. Represented: ACAG, McDougall, Hocken.
