No. 151 (1907).—Petition of Ngamoni Rewiri and 4 Others, of Mangonui.

Petitioners pray that Europeans be prevented from removing timber from the Whakaangiangi Block.

I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, and that the attention of the Government be drawn to the report of this Committee on a similar petition, dated the 26th September, 1906—namely "I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry, with a view to finding out if any arrangement could be made with the European lessees in reference to the burial-places mentioned in the petition "

E inoi ana kia araitia atu nga Pakeha kia kaua hei tukua kia mau atu ana i nga rakau o runga o Whakaangiangi Poraka.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ripoata, ki te whakaaro a te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria, a me te tohutohu atu hoki ki te Kawanatanga kia tirohia e ratou te ripoata a te Komiti mo Nga Mea Maori mo runga i tetahi pitihana penei ano te ahua, i tuhia i te 26 o Hepetema, 1906—ara, "Kua whakahaua ahau kia ripoata, ki te whakaaro a te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia uiuia, he mea kia kitea ai mehemea kaore ranei e taea te whakarite ki nga Pakeha kai-tango i nga riihi tetahi tikanga mo nga tanumanga tupapaku e huaina ana i roto i te pitihana."
