Nos. 372, 373, 374, 375, 376, 377, and 381, 1905.—Petitions of Hori te Pewa Paeara and 643 Others, M. N. Miru and 219 Others, Rauhihi Akapita and 2,724 Others, Te Pehikino Rereahu and 190 Others, Toanui Tamaka and 335 Others, Tupu Ringamutu and 176 Others and Hira Waka Karawhiu and 647 Others.

Petitioners pray that effect may be given to the prayer of Petition No. 766. 1904, Tupu Taingakawa and others, praying that Maoris may be placed on the same footing as Europeans with regard to dealing with their lands.

I am directed to report that, as these petitions refer to a matter of policy, the Committee has no recommendation to make.
