No. 434, 1903.—Petition of Teone Paraone and Another, of Taumutu, Canterbury.
Petitioners complain that land at Taumutu, on the shores of Lake Ellesmere, intended for the sole use of the Maoris of that district, has gone into the hands of one person on a ninety-nine years lease. They pray that the said lease may be determined and the land handed over to the rightful owners.
I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition.

No. 434, 1903.—Pitihana a Teone Paraone me tetahi atu tangata o Taumutu, Katapere.
E ki ana nga kai-pitihana ko te whenua i Taumutu, i te tahatika o Waihora (Lake Ellesmere), i whakaritea nei hei kainga mo nga Maori anake o taua Takiwa, kua riro i te tangata kotahi, i runga i te riihi mo nga tau e 99; e inoi ana ratou kia whakamutua taua riihi a kia whakahokia atu taua whenua ki nga tangata tika no ratou taua whenua.
Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, kaore kau a te Komiti kupu mo runga i tenei pitihana.
