No. 195, 1903.—Petition of Hemi te O and 17 Others.

Petitioners pray that a piece of land called Te Hurepo (near Oporiao, inland of Whakatane), which was confiscated as a result of fighting near Whakatane, may be returned to them.

I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry.

No. 195, 1903.—Pitihana a Hemi te O me etahi atu tekau ma whitu.

E inoi ana nga kai-pitihana kia whakahokia atu ki a ratou tetahi piihi whenua ko Te Huripo te ingoa (e tata ana ki Oporiao kei te taha whakarunga o Whakatane), i riro nei i te raupatu i muri iho i te whawhai.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, ki te whakaaro o te Komiti me tuku tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia uiuia.
