No. 653.—Petition of G. P. Mutu and 71 Others.

Petitioners pray that the Taurutu Lagoon, near Rangiora, Canterbury, together with the surrounding land, may be set aside as a Native reserve.

I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.

No. 653.—Pitihana a G. P. Mutu me etahi atu e whitu tekau ma tahi.

E inoi ana nga kai-pitihana kia wehea atu te roto i Taurutu, e tata ana ki Rangiora, Katapere, hui atu ki nga whenua o te tahatika o taua roto, hei rahui Maori.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, ki te whakaaro o te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria paitia e ratou.
