No. 320, 1899.—Petition of Ihipera Patuwai.

Petitioner prays for rehearing as to succession to Eraihia te Waerenga, deceased owner in Mataikona No. 2 Block.

I am directed to report that, as the petitioner and her sisters appear to have lost their chance of appealing against the decision of the Native Laud Court through ignorance of the law, the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government, with a view to giving them an opportunity of being heard in support of their claims.

E inoi ana te kai-pitihana kia whakawakia tuaruatia te riiwhitanga o tetahi tupapaku, ara, o Eraihia te Waerenga, tetahi o nga tangata i uru ki Mataikona No. 2 Poraka.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, mehemea nei na runga i te kuare o te kai-pitihana me ona teina ki te ture i tukuna ai e ratou kia pahemo te wa tika hei piiratanga ma ratou i te whakatau a te Kooti Whenua Maori, na reira ki te whakaaro o te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga, a me whakatuwhera he huarahi e whakawakia ai nga take o ta ratou kereeme.
