Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1899.

[No. 274.—Petition of Maku Ellison and Others.]

No. 274.—Petition of Maku Ellison and Others.

Petitioners pray that a rehearing may be held in connection with the Poukawa Reserve, Te Hauke, Hawke's Bay District.

I am directed to report that the Committee, having fully considered the evidence in connection with this ease, is of opinion sufficient grounds have been shown to warrant further inquiry being held into the ownership of the land in question, and, with that end in view, it is recommended that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration.
