Petitioners state that they are absolutely landless, and pray for relief.
I am directed to report that, as the Government is now considering the question of landless Natives, it is recommended that this petition be referred to them for favourable consideration.

No. 231, 1897.—Pitihana a Maewa Hakirangi me etahi atu tokoono.
E ki ana nga kai-pitihana kaore rawa atu o ratou whenua, a e inoi ana kia whakaorangia to ratou mate.
Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, i te mea kei te whiriwhiria i naianei e te Kawanatanga tetahi tikanga mo nga Maori whenua-kore, na reira ki te whakaaro o te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria paitia.
