No. 323, 1897.—Petition of Pirihira Tarewa Urupine and 2 Others.
Petitioners complain that they have been wrongfully excluded from succession to certain deceased persons, owners in the New Zealand Company's "tenths," and they pray for inquiry and relief.
I am directed to report that the Committee recommends the Government should carry out the suggestion contained in the report of the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court on this petition (dated the 5th August, 1898)—viz.: "That the petitioners should be referred to the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court with a view to the case being reopened under section 62 of 'The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895.'"
