Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1896.

[No. 232.—Petition of Titihuia and Others.]

No. 232.—Petition of Titihuia and Others.

Petitioners pray that an investigation may be made into the title of the Rimutauteka Block, near Waitara, for the purpose of giving them an opportunity of proving their right to be included therein.

page 12

I am directed to report that the Committee find the title to the block in question was settled by the West Coast Royal Commission in 1884, but, as it is alleged the petitioners are without land, the Committee recommend that the Government make inquiries into their case and grant such relief as may be deemed necessary.
