No. 43.—Petition of Wiremu Neera te Kanae and 155 Others.
Petitioners allege that notwithstanding the whole of their land in the northern portion of the Middle Island was not sold by the Native owners, the whole has been taken by Government. They pray for the return of the unsold portions.
I am directed to report that, as this matter was inquired into by a Royal Commission in 1874 and settled, the Committee has no recommendation to make.
