No. 163.—Petition of Ropata Ngatiwai and 2 Others.

Petitioners pray that they may be allowed to sell the kauri timber on their land (Wairahi) to the Kauri Timber Company.

I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that the Natives be requested to submit to the Government the terms on which they propose to sell the kauri timber to the Kauri Timber Company.

No. 163.—Pitihana a Ropata Ngatiwai me etahi atu tokorua.

E inoi ana nga kai-pitihana kia whakaaetia ratou kia hoko atu i nga rakau kauri e tu ana i runga i to ratou whenua, i Wairahi, ki te Kamupane Mahi Rakau Kauri.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, ki te whakaaro a te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawantanga kia whiriwhiria paitia, a me tae atu he kupu ki nga Maori kia tukuna mai ki te Kawanatanga nga ritenga e hokona atu ai e ratou nga rakau kauri ki te Kamupane Mahi Rakau Kauri.
