No. 30, 1896.—Petition of Haora Tareranui and 168 Others.
Petitioners complain that the law relating to Native lands, as it now stands, is unjust to the Maori race and that they suffer great hardship through the same; they pray for relief.
I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for its earnest consideration.

No. 30, 1896.—Pitihana a Haora Tareranui me etahi atu kotahi rau e ono tekau ma waru.
E mea ana nga kai-pitihana ko te ture mo nga Whenua Maori, e mana nei inaianei, ka nui te he me te peehi kino i te iwi Maori; e inoi ana ratou kia whakaorangia to ratou iwi.
Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, ki te whakaaro a te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia tino whiriwhiria.
