Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1895

[No. 430.—Petition of William Henry Tucker (No. 2).]

No. 430.—Petition of William Henry Tucker (No. 2).

Petitioner prays that he may be relieved from the litigation which is pending in regard to the Makauri, Taruheru, and Tahoka Blocks.

I have the honour to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, the Court created under "The Poututu Jurisdiction Act, 1889," was meant to decide matters finally without appeal or rehearing, and, as doubts have been raised as to whether the statute carries out that intention, legislation should be passed this session making such intention clear.

8th October, 1895.

E whai honore ana ahau ki te ripoata ki te whakaaro a te Komiti ko te Kooti i whakaturia nei i raro i "Te Ture Mana Whakahaere mo Poututu, 1889," i maharatia ma tera e whakatau kia oti rawa, kia kaua ai e taea ta tono ano kia whakawakia tuaruatia, nga putake katoa e tukuna atu ana ki taua Kooti, engari i te mea kua puta he awangawanga, tena pea kaore i te rite i taua Ture taua tikanga, na reira me mahi he Ture i tenei huihuinga o te Paremete hei tino whakatutuki i taua whakaaro.
