No. 357, 1894.—Petition of Daniel James Mcewen.

Petitioner states that, through the operation of "The Native Equitable Owners Act, 1886," he is unable to complete the purchase of the Paparoa Block. He prays for relief.

The Committee have to report that the title of the petitioner to the land he claims is not disclosed; but, assuming he is the lessee, he has been deprived of the right to purchase the land by the operation of "The Native Equitable Owners Act, 1886."

The Committee cannot recommend that the petitioner has any claim on the colony.

Ko te ripoata tenei a te Komiti kaore i whakaaturia mai e te kai-pitihana ona whai-taketanga ki te whenua e kereemetia nei e ia; otira, i te mea me ki noake koia te kai-tango i te riihi a kua tangohia atu e "Te Ture Whakapumau Take Tika, 1886," te mana i a ia e taea ai e ia te hoko o taua whenua.
