Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1895

[No. 236.—Petition of Te Mira and 15 Others.]

No. 236.—Petition of Te Mira and 15 Others.

Petitioners allege that a reserve originally laid down for them in the Waipuku, Patea Block, the land on which the Town of Stratford now stands, was taken by Government, and one of much less value given to them instead. They pray for compensation.

I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry.

17th September, 1895.
