No. 125.—Petition of Raureti Paerau Mokonuiarangi and 65 Others.

Petitioners pray that a medical practitioner may be appointed to attend the Natives and Europeans in the Rangitaiki and Whakatane Districts.

I have the honour to report that the Committee recommend that a medical man be sent to inquire into the mortality which has been rife amongst the Natives of the districts mentioned, and report what steps should be taken to reduce the same.
