No. 141.—Petition of W. H. Taipari and 150 Others.
Petitioners pray that the following Acts may be repealed, as they press unduly on the Natives—viz.: The Rating Act, in its application to the Natives, the Bill for the Settlement of Native Lands, and the Dog-tax Act.
I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that, as the petition refers to matters of policy, it should be referred to the Government for consideration.

E inoi ana nga kai-pitihana kia whakakorea atu nga Ture e mau ake nei, i te mea e taumaha ana aua Ture ki runga ki nga Maori, ara: Te Ture Reiti, ona, rarangi e pa ana ki nga Maori, Te Pire Whakanohonoho Tangata ki te Whenua, me te Ture Taake Kuri.
Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei: Ki te whakaaro a te Komiti, i te mea e pa ana tenei pitihana ki nga tikanga whakahaere a te Kawanatanga, me tuku atu ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria tona tikanga.
