Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1894.

[No. 408.—Petition of Winiata Kaihote.]

No. 408.—Petition of Winiata Kaihote.

Petitioner prays for a rehearing of Ohuia No. 2 Block, as he alleges his name, with others, was wrongfully struck; out of the list of owners.

I am directed to report that the Committee is satisfied that the name of the petitioner, with some others, was wrongly erased from the list of owners in the Ohuia No. 2 Block, as it was done some time after the judgment had been given, and the list of owners confirmed, and no notice was given of such erasure to the parties concerned. Under the circumstances, this Committee recommends this petition be referred to the Government with the view of passing remedial legislation.
