No. 541.—Petition of Hira te Taka and 65 Others.

Praying that the present holders of the titles to the Kauwaeranga and Turipukunui Blocks may be prevented from selling the same, as they are in reality only trustees for their tribe.

I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government, with the view of ascertaining whether legislation can be introduced to give effect to the prayer of the petition.

3rd October, 1893.

[Translation.]
No. 541.—Pukapuka inoi a Hira te Taka me etahi atu e 65.

E inoi ana nga kai-pitihana kia kaua e tukuna nga tangata e pupuri nei i nga take mo te Kauwaeranga me te Turipukunui Poraka kia hoko i ana poraka no te mea he kaitiaki kau ratou no te iwi.
