Reports of the Native Affairs Committee, 1893.

[Native Trusts and Claims Definition and Registration Bill.]

Native Trusts and Claims Definition and Registration Bill.

I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee, to whom was referred the Native Trusts and Claims Definition and Registration Bill, have duly considered the same, and are of opinion it should be allowed to proceed with amendments as shown on the copy attached hereto.

The Committee is also of opinion,—
1. That if there are any persons beneficially entitled to Native land who have not availed themselves of the provisions of "The Native Equitable Owners Act," 1886, instead of a general Act being passed to meet such cases, special legislation should be introduced after the investigation of each special case.
2. That notice of this resolution should be given to the Natives by the Native Department.

E whakaaro anano hoki te Komiti,—
1. Mehemea tera etahi tangata e tika ana kia whai take ki te Whenua Maori a kihai tono i runga i nga tikanga o "Te Ture Whakapumau Take Tika, 1886," ahakoa kahore e paahitia tetahi ture hei whakamana i era keehi ko te mea pai me hanga he ture motuhake hei whakamana i aua keehi i muri iho i te whakawakanga o ia keehi.
