No. 354.—Petition of John Marie Grace.
Petitioner, who is a schoolmaster, states that a Native named Pomare Kingi went to his house and assaulted his (petitioner's) wife, who was then near her confinement—from which assault his wife was dangerously ill for a long time, and he was put to great expense in consequence. He asks that he may be compensated for his loss, as he was advised by the Education Department not to prosecute the Native.
