A New Book

Nelson author and historian J. N. W. (Jeff) Newport has a new book in the hands of the printer. This deals with the back country that he knows so well, mainly with the Upper Buller and Howard areas, with the days of horse transport to the days of motorcars, with the building of modern roads and with the people who worked and lived there. It is profusely illustrated. It includes notes from J. Tomlinson, a long time resident and from Stan Newport, storekeeper on the Howard and an authority on the gold diggers of the Maggie and Maud Creek areas. We look forward to seeing it before Christmas.
