Canterbury Licensed Victuallers' Association.

Formed for the purpose of protecting the interests of the publicans of Canterbury, this Association has been for many years in existence with varying prosperity, and undergoing occasional changes in form. It has latterly taken considerable interest in the elections in the district, both for municipalities and for the General Assembly, on which occasions a kind of mild struggle takes place between the believers in Total Abstinence and the supporters of the drinking traffic. The Association is managed by a President, vice-President, and Committee, elected annually. The Secretary is Mr. F. A. Bromley, and the office 162, High-street, Christchurch.
