Sir,—

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th instant, enclosing a copy of a letter received by you from the Commissioners of Native Reserves at Nelson, relative to Native reserves at Motueka, together with your memorandum on the same subject

I have now the honour, by direction of the Minister for Native affairs, to inform you that he entirely concurs in your recommendations therein conveyed, and to request that you will communicate with the Commissioners of Native Reserves accordingly.

I have also to request that you will proceed to Motueka, and finally settle all questions relative to Native reserves in that district, and report to the Government thereon.
