I have the honour to inform you that Mr. A. Mackay has been appointed agent for the Crown, at the approaching sitting of the Native Lands Court in Otago, and instructed to act under your advice.

I hope that you will oblige the Government by giving Mr. Mackay the benefit of your knowledge and experience relative to the claims which will be the subject of investigation by the Court.
