Note.—Of the 1000 acres awarded by the Court to the Natives of Kaiapoi, 450 are in return for lands apportioned out of the Kaiapoi estate to Natives for whom other lands have been set apart at Rapaki, Wairewa, Port Levy, and other places. Of the remaining 550 acres, 200 are intended as a provision for a few Natives (about 20 in number) residing at Kaiapoi, for whom no land had been set apart. The other places included in the award are intended as fishery easements, in fulfilment of the engagements to the Natives included in the phrase Mahinga Kai, used in the Ngaitahu Deed.
Note.—The names marked with an asterisk denote the persons chosen as Trustees for the several reserves.
