This Deed, made the 3th day of June, 1863, Between Thomas Hanmer, of Talgai, Warwick, in the Colony of Queensland, Gentleman, of the one part, and Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria of the other part, Witnesseth that in consideration of £250 sterling, paid by Her Majesty to the said Thomas Hanmer, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, He the said Thomas Hanmer, doth hereby convey and assure unto Her Majesty Queen Victoria, her heirs and successors. All That piece of land, containing one quarter of an acre, situate in and fronting upon Godley Quay, in the Town of Lyttelton, in the Province of Canterbury, in New Zealand, which said section of land is numbered "232" on the official map of the said town, and is particularly delineated on the plan drawn in the margin of these presents. With all the rights and appurtenances thereto belonging, To Hold the same in trust for the site, erection, and maintenance of a Native Hostelry, or such other purpose as the Governor of the Colony may from time to time direct by writing under his hand.

In witness whereof the said Thomas Hanmer hath hereunto subscribed his name,
