Book & Print in New Zealand : A Guide to Print Culture in Aotearoa

Bibliography

Bibliography

With certain exceptions, this Bibliography consolidates and provides full bibliographical details for the works referred to in the text of the book. Almost all entries are for secondary sources which would provide the researcher with additional print culture information. A few are primary sources such as archives and manuscripts, and a few are for works (e.g. type specimen books) that are examples of specific print culture activities.

Works referred to in the text but excluded from the Bibliography are:

  • Titles for which full bibliographical details were provided in listings in the text, and which were not also sources of additional New Zealand print culture information. Readers are especially referred back to the text for such references in the sections covering languages other than English and Māori in Chapter 6;
  • Titles of publications referred to solely as passing examples of a genre or format, e.g the title of a newspaper.

Readers may also be interested in the bibliographical database being developed under the auspices of the Humanities Society of New Zealand and supported by funding from Victoria University of Wellington. While the database is still at a developmental stage, people wanting to find out more, or have specific searches carried out, should contact: Dr Brian Opie, Department of English, Victoria University of Wellington, PO Box 600, Wellington, New Zealand.
