Reverend John Kinder
John Kinder was born in London in 1819 and was educated at Cheam, Surrey, and Trinity College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge he took much interest in ecclesiastical architecture. In 1855 page 49he was chosen by Bishop Selwyn as headmaster of the proposed Auckland Grammar School, a position which he held for seventeen years. He painted a number of pictures of the Auckland district.
