An Act to amend "The Native Townships Act, 1895." Title.

[5th November, 1903.

Be It Enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. The Short Title of this Act is "The Native Townships Short Title. Amendment Act, 1903"; and it shall form part of and be read together with "The Native Townships Act, 1895" (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").

Notwithstanding anything in the principal Act, the Governor Deposited plan of township may be altered. may at any time, on the advice and report of the Minister of Native Affairs, modify or alter the deposited plan of any Native township (whether such plan was deposited before or after the passing of this Act), and may, by notice in the Gazette and Kahiti, direct that the purpose for which any lands are vested in His Majesty as prescribed by section twelve of the principal Act may be changed to some other or others of such purposes:

Provided that such notice shall not be made so as to affect any allotment vested in His Majesty in trust for the Native owners, as prescribed by subsection four of the said section, if such allotment has been leased or otherwise disposed of.

3.Registration of notice. Any such notice in the Gazette may be registered in the District Land Register, and on such registration the District Land Registrar shall give effect to the same according to the tenor thereof.
