The Glory of Kahurangi.

That afternoon, after mounting a difficult rapid, poles were laid inboard, and with our four paddles going again, we swept into a long and lovely straight vista of deep water, the reach called by the natives Kahurangi. The beauty of the place calls forth expressions of admiration from even our dour boatman Piko.
