Travelling By Rail.
“Other than at holiday time, I have never seen so many people travelling by rail in the South Island as I have during this last week,” said a well-known traveller to a pressman recently. “I suppose it is because the fares are so cheap. You can now travel from Christchurch to Invercargill return for £4/8/6 first class or £2/19/- second class-that's good value for the money, and the public seems to be realising it.”
