Mr. R. Clark, jnr., 10 Mansion Street, Marrickville, Sydney, N.S.W., writes to the Editor, New Zealand Railways Magazine as follows:—

“I have a large collection of postcard photographs of Australian locomotives and express trains, and would be pleased to arrange an exchange for similar photographs of rolling stock on the New Zealand Railways.”

Mile-Stones in New Zealand's Transport History. The top illustration depicts the development of the Hawke's Bay Motor Company's Fleet from the days of the stage each to the modern vehicles which are now run in conjunction with the Railway Department's services. In this centere is shwewn the departure from Auckland (on Christmas Eve, 1873) of the first train to run on the Auckland-Waikato railway, and below, New Zealand's crack train, the “Limited Express,” at the end of its 426 mile run from Auckland to Wellington.
