Impressions

Impressions

The colours of an evening sky
I watched,
And smelt the gorse and earth and the soft grass,
And heard
The wind in the pine trees moaning.

The tumult of a rushing sea
I watched,
And smelt the salt and sand and the taut ropes,
And heard
The gulls on the bleak cliff's crying.

The glamour of a crowded street
I watched,
And smelt the car and the tar and the fish shops,
And heard
The boys in the blue dusk calling.

And I was happy and laughed,
Being glad of you
O evening sky,
And rushing wind
And crowded street.
