He was educated at the public schools and Nelson College, and afterwards attended lectures at Victoria College, Wellington, while serving his articles with Mr. W. T. L. Travers and Mr. H. D. Bell, K.C. In 1901 he took the B.A. degree, and in 1903 graduated in law, winning highest honours in the Dominion for practice and procedure. His extra efficiency in this department was due to his experience in the Appeal and Supreme Courts with Mr. H. D. Bell, K.C., and his partner, Mr. Meyers. While in Wellington Mr. Graham took a very keen interest in debating, and had the honour of representing his college at the inter-collegiate debating contest held in Christchurch in 1902. In 1907 he removed to Feilding and established his present practice.
