Mr. George William King was born in October, 1878, at Caroline, Southland, educated at Lumsden, entered the railway service in September, 1898, and was appointed acting-ganger in 1903. He was married, on the 2nd of October, 1901, to a daughter of Mr Charles Foster, of Invercargill.
