Cameron, James

Cameron, James , Farmer, “Ardwell,” Rimu. Mr Cameron was born in 1842, in the parish of Fernitosh, Ross-shire, Scotland, where he was educated, and brought up to farming. He arrived at Dunedin in 1869, and worked in the Taieri district for two years. After a short time at the diggings, he took up a position as manager of Messrs Mathieson Brothers' station at Lake Wakatipu, where he remained five years. Mr Cameron acquired his present farm of seventy-three acres, which was then in its natural state, but which has now been improved, and brought under cultivation. Mr Cameron carries on mixed farming. He was married, in 1877, to a daughter of Mr M. Parker, farmer and dealer, of Wigton, and has two daughters and one son.
