St. Mary's Church

St. Mary's Church, Merivale, Christchurch, is a somewhat picturesque wooden building. It was erected about 1865, and has accommodation for 355 persons. The organ was formerly used in the Christchurch Cathedral; there is a well-trained choir, and the music is good. Merivale parish has a population of about 4000. A church day school, with an attendance of about forty pupils, is supported by church funds.
