Burroughs, W

Burroughs, W. and J. (William Henry Burroughs and James Edward Burroughs, Butchers and Graziers, Whangarei. Branch at Kamo. Bankers. Bank of New Zealand. Established in 1894. Messrs. Burroughs Bros, do a good steady business throughout the County of Whangarei, and are gradually extending their trade. Live stock is bought at the local saleyards and turned out to graze on the firm's farm till required. None but the primest meat is allowed to leave their establishment, which has, in consequence, gained an excellent reputation. The Messrs. Burroughs were born in Devonshire, lauded in the Colony per ship “Lancashire Witeh” with their parents in 1864, and were engaged in farming and contracting at Whangarei for many years. In 1891 they took up their present property near Kamo, which is admirably suited for a sheep and cattle run.
