Paterson, A. S. and Co. (A. S. Paterson Dunedin, and J. K. Anderson, London), General Merchants, National Mutual Buildings, Custom House Quay, Wellington. Head office Dunedin. Branch at Auckland. Bankers, Bank of New Zealand. Private residence of manager, Rosina Terrace. This business was established in London and in the Colony in 1886. The trade extends throughout New Zealand, the North Island being worked by Wellington and Auckland houses, and the South Island from Dunedin., Messrs. Paterson and Co. are importers of sugar, tea, cornsacks and woolpacks. In seeds, they are very large importers of clovers, cow grass, rye grass, etc., and do a very considerable trade. They represent the Timaru Milling Company, Limited, and Milburn Lime and Cement Company, Limited, Dunedin, and their travellers pay periodica[gap — reason: illegible] visits to the various parts of the Colony. Messrs. Paterson and Co. make heavy purchases from farmers and merchants, and are large exporters of flax, frozen meat, tallow, wheat, oats, and colonial seeds. They have agents throughout New Zealand and in Australia and are New Zealand Agents for Messrs. A. H. and E. Young, proprietors, Fairymead sugars, Queensland.
