The Courtenay Place Congregational Church
The Courtenay Place Congregational Church, an offshoot from the mother church situate on the Terrace, was established some seventeen or eighteen years ago. The late Mr. Joseph Burne gave the site, and built the original schoolroom. The foundation-stone of the new church, which will accommodate 250 people, was laid by Mrs. Burne in March, 1890. The edifice, which is of wood, was completed during the pastorate of the Rev. W. Powell. With the exception of a small sum of £50, which it is expected will be paid off at an early date, the entire cost has been raised. On an average 100 children and young people attend the Sunday school.
